The Kerala Public Service Commission is otherwise called as Karnataka Public Service Commission. This is a body created by the Constitution of India to select the applicants for Civil Service Jobs in Kerala State on the basis of the merits of the Applicants and the Rules of Reservation.

KPSC had its Official Headquarters in Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram. It has three Regional Offices and Fourteen District Offices.

The Kerala Public Service Commission is a Body created by the Constitution of India. Functions of Kerala PSC Recruitment 2018

The Kerala Public Service Commission Rules came into force from 16th August 1976. The functions of Kerala Public Service Commission are as follows:

  1. Recruitment to Services and Posts: KPSC conducts various competitive examinations under the state. This is a regular recruitment mode where an examination will be conducted followed by an Interview.

  2. Recruitment to Services and Posts: on Direct Recruitment Basis. This type of recruitment is done to fill in immediate/irregular Job Vacancies. This type of selection is usually done on the basis of Direct Interview and sometimes written tests are also conducted for selection.

  3. Advising on the Suitability of the officers for Appointment on Promotion as well as Transfer on Deputation.

  4. Advising the Government on all the matters relating to the methods of Recruitment to various services and posts.

  5. Disciplinary Cases related to different civil services and miscellaneous matters relating to grant extraordinary pensions, reimbursements of Legal Expenses etc.

  6. Kerala PSC is advising the Government to appoint qualified professional for various posts, through Rank List that is created by the PSC from top scorers in written, practical and Physical Examinations.

Eligibility Criteria For Kerala PSC Recruitment 2018

Age- Limit and Nationality

  • The minimum age of the candidate must be 21 years and the maximum age of the candidate must be 30 years as on 1st Jan 2018.

  • Age-Relaxations will be applicable on the Reserved Category candidates as per the Government Norms.


  • The Candidate/ Application must hold Indian Citizenship.

Educational Qualifications

  • Candidate must hold a Degree from a recognized University.

  • Candidates will be selected on the basis of the Written Examination followed by an Interview and Screening Test.

  • There will be a Preliminary Test and Mains Examination followed by an Interview.

Examination Pattern For Kerala PSC Recruitment 2018

The Examination Pattern of KPSC are as follows:

  • Preliminary Examination

  • Main Examination

  • Personality Test

The Preliminary Examination will be Objective Type. It will consist of two papers- Paper-I and Paper-II of 200 marks each.

The Shortlisted candidates will be called for Main Examination. The Main Examination will comprise of Seven Papers which carries 200 marks each. Selected candidates will be called for an Interview Test. The Interview Round will carry 150 marks.
